Flying B German shorthair with mixed-bag of pheasants, huns and chukar. We are looking forward to another season of the world's best mixed-bag shooting at the Flying B Ranch in Idaho. Each year we enjoy a 90 to 100 percent re-booking rate from our clients — and with good reason. Never have we found a location so magnificently scenic, nor have we ever seen such populations of hard flying and beautiful birds.
The Flying B Ranch offers true five-star accommodations in their 12,000 square-foot lodge, small parties (16 maximum), new, custom-built hunting vehicles, excellent guides and a diverse kennel of Elhew pointers, labs, shorthairs, and Brittanys, trout fishing nearby; and on and on.
When a fine bird dog settles on point here, you have to be ready... a wily, solitary pheasant may flush right underfoot or there might be a huge explosion of 30 Hungarian partridge! Just over the next ridge, it might be a pair of chukars or a covey of valley quail.
The ranch itself is a work of art, with eight square miles of lush canyon bottom, rolling wheat and sorghum fields, steep talus slopes and extensive brushy draws and ridges. It is truly a hunter’s and photographer’s paradise. This is big country bird hunting at its best. Bags are large and usually of several species. Thirty or forty birds a day would be the norm for a party of two or three.
Beautiful bird hunting scenery."Why do I come to the Flying B Ranch? Well, first of all, after a hard day in the field, you return to a spectacular lodge, a roaring fire, great meals, comfortable rooms, friendly guests and a very, very warm and courteous staff. But most of all, it's the shooting. Where else can you hunt five different varieties of upland game over magnificent gun dogs with thoroughly professional guides, surrounded by spectacular scenery. That's why I come back to the Flying B Ranch. It has to be one of the finest bird shooting experiences anywhere in this country." Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf
